Science Publishes ECUST New Progress on Reducing Pesticide Risks

Recently, Professor Wan Nianfeng from the research team of Academician Qian Xuhong, ECUST, collaborating with researchers from East China Normal University and institutions in the UK, Germany, and Australia, published an academic Letter titled “Leaving synthetic pesticides behind” in Science.

The article argues that addressing the negative effects of pesticides on non-target organisms and the ecological environment requires systemic thinking and dialectical approaches to reduce risks. It emphasizes that all international stakeholders must act, and both hardware (technology and product support) and software (policy safeguards) are essential.

The paper is first authored and corresponding authored by Professor Wan Nianfeng of ECUST, and co-authored by Academician Qian Xuhong (ECUST/ECNU), Professor Li Zhong (School of Pharmacy, ECUST), Senior Researcher Ben A. Woodcock (UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology), Professor Christoph Scherber (University of Bonn, Germany), and Professor Kris A.G. Wyckhuys (The University of Queensland, Australia).
